The foundation of Islam is Iman, which means belief in Allah, His messengers, and all the principles of Islam. There are six basic pillars of Iman in Islam, which ensure the completeness of a Muslim's faith. These six pillars are:

1. Belief in Allah (The First Pillar of Iman)

Allah is the only Creator, the Sovereign of the entire universe. He has no partner or helper. The first pillar of a Muslim's faith is to believe in the oneness of Allah. Belief in Allah’s unique existence and His infinite power is essential. He is the primary source of all creation, and nothing can happen without His will. It is vital for Muslims to have full trust and faith in Allah.

2. Belief in the Angels (The Second Pillar of Iman)

In Islam, it is believed that Allah created angels to carry out His commands. These angels perform tasks such as guiding people, protecting them, and executing Allah’s will in the universe. Among the most important angels are Jibril (Gabriel), Mikail (Michael), Israfil (Raphael), and Azrael (Angel of Death). Belief in these angels and their role in executing Allah’s commands is an integral part of a Muslim’s faith.

3. Belief in the Holy Books (The Third Pillar of Iman)

Muslims believe that Allah sent divine books through His prophets as guidance for humanity. These books include the Qur'an, the final revelation, as well as the Tawrat (Torah), Injeel (Gospel), and Zabur (Psalms). Each of these books contains Allah’s guidance for human beings. The Qur'an is the final and most complete revelation, and it is obligatory for Muslims to believe in all the previous scriptures.

4. Belief in the Prophets (The Fourth Pillar of Iman)

Muslims believe that Allah sent prophets throughout history to convey His message to humanity. From Adam (peace be upon him) to the final prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), many prophets have come with Allah's guidance. Muhammad (peace be upon him) is considered the last and final prophet, and Muslims are required to believe in him and follow his teachings. Belief in all the prophets is a fundamental aspect of faith in Islam.

5. Belief in the Day of Judgment (The Fifth Pillar of Iman)

Muslims believe in the Day of Judgment, a time when all human beings will be resurrected and judged for their actions. Based on their deeds, individuals will either be rewarded with entry into Paradise (Jannah) or punished in Hell (Jahannam). The belief in the afterlife is essential for guiding a Muslim’s actions in this life, as it provides a moral and spiritual framework.

6. Belief in Qadar (Divine Decree) (The Sixth Pillar of Iman)

Qadar refers to the belief in the Divine Decree. This means that everything that happens in the world, both good and bad, occurs according to Allah's will and plan. While humans are given free will, everything that happens is ultimately a part of Allah’s plan. Belief in Qadar helps Muslims to accept whatever comes their way, whether it is a test, trial, or blessing, with patience and trust in Allah.

Conclusion

The six pillars of Iman form the foundation of a Muslim’s belief and their relationship with Allah. These pillars guide a Muslim's life and help them stay on the right path, ultimately leading them toward Allah’s mercy and paradise. If any one of these pillars is neglected, the completeness of a person’s faith is compromised. Therefore, it is important for a Muslim to uphold these pillars in their heart and actions, ensuring the fulfillment of their Iman.
